Washington Just Turned Stablecoins Into Treasury Distribution Channels
PlanBtoshi
The forward question is not whether stablecoins will matter to Treasury markets. They already do. The forward question is whether the current legislative framework creates a system that survives its own stress test. If the answer is no — and based on my forensic reading of the bill's silence on audit standards, reserve segregation, and redemption mechanics, I suspect the answer is no — then Washington has not built a pipeline. It has built a liability. The accountability call is simple: before the GENIUS Act becomes law, demand real-time reserve verification, enforce third-party audit standards that go beyond attestation letters, and require reserve segregation that prevents issuers from using user deposits as leverage. Without those provisions, the stablecoin-to-Treasury channel is not infrastructure. It is a time bomb with a legislative shell.
